A quick look at day counting between dates.

Day counting explained

A Days Between Dates Calculator returns the exact number of calendar days separating two dates. It takes the earlier date from the later one while allowing for month lengths, leap years and year boundaries.

Rather than a years-months-days breakdown, you get one total day count — the number you need for deadlines, comparisons and age in days.

Business vs calendar days

Calendar days count every day; business days leave out Saturdays and Sundays. A 30-calendar-day stretch usually holds 21 or 22 business days, which is why shipping estimates, bank processing and many legal deadlines are quoted in business days.

Inclusive vs exclusive counting

January 1 to January 3 is 2 days counted exclusively (the number of midnights in between). Count both dates and it becomes 3 days inclusive. Exclusive counting is the more common convention.
