What Is a Day Counter Calculator?

How day counting and date arithmetic work.

Day counting explained

A Day Counter Calculator moves a date forward or back by a fixed number of days. It answers questions such as "What date is 90 days from now?" or "What was the date 60 days ago?"

It allows for variable month lengths of 28 to 31 days and for leap years. Thirty days after January 15 is not February 15 but February 14, because January has 31 days.

Business days vs calendar days

Business days include only Monday to Friday, and many legal deadlines and shipping promises are measured that way. Thirty calendar days usually contain 21 or 22 business days.

Common uses

Return windows ("30 days to return"), legal limits ("file within 60 days"), project timelines ("delivery in 45 days") and medical schedules ("review in 14 days") all come down to counting days.

Day Counter FAQ

Answers to common questions about the Day Counter Calculator.

Choose a start date and type how many days to count. The days are added for you and the exact target date appears, weekday included, with month lengths and leap years taken into account.

It counts calendar days. Alongside the target date, the result also tells you how many of those days are business days (weekdays) and how many fall on weekends.

Yes. Switch to "Subtract" or enter a negative number to count back from the start date. For example, 30 days before July 15 is June 15.

A business day is a weekday, Monday to Friday, that isn't a public holiday. Weekdays are counted here, but holidays are not removed because they vary from country to country.

Leap years follow the Gregorian rules — every fourth year, except century years not divisible by 400 — so February 29 is included exactly when it should be.

Yes. It is free with no sign-up, and the dates you enter are processed in your browser only.

Enter today's date (or press "Use Today") and type 100 in the day count. The calculator shows the exact date and weekday 100 days ahead, adjusting for month lengths and leap years automatically.
